5 Must Dos Before A Job Interview

To be selected by the company of your choice, you have to undergo a job interview and do well in it. A job interview is a conversation between an applicant and the company’s representative. They will ask you questions about yourself, your career, experience, personality, and things you might know about the company you are applying for.

Applying for a job interview has a structure similar to that of an iceberg. The tip of the iceberg is how you exude confidence and competence and impress the interviewer. However, beneath the surface lies your preparation and practice for the said interview. Being able to prepare well will greatly contribute to your proficiency during the job interview, which will determine whether or not you deserve to be hired. Hence, as a job applicant, never overlook the value of being well-prepared. In this article, you will be guided about what must be done before and during a job interview.

Start writing and compiling your documents.

Writing your essential documents, such as your resume and cover letters, as soon as possible will do wonders. In relation to this, browsing for resume and cover letter examples can aid you in knowing what outstanding documents must look like. Furthermore, starting to work on them early will give you more time to double-check or even have a professional check them for you. You will be less anxious during the interview because you do not have to dwell on the thoughts of submitting substandard documents. On top of that, you must print out your documents and put them in one place. You should also re-read your documents multiple times and prepare an explanation for them because some interviewers might ask you to walk them through your resume and cover letters.

Research the Company

Being well-versed in the company’s history, standards, what they look for, and what the company is best known for will help you impress the interviewer. Determination and fascination will be apparent to you in that case. Furthermore, you will also be able to impart what you can offer the company and how hiring you can be of an advantage. Lastly, by knowing the company, you can evaluate if it will suit your standards for a good working environment.

Know what questions to anticipate

You can ask your friend who works in the company to tell you the questions they usually ask or search online for the most frequently asked questions during the interview. For your reference, some of the most common questions are “Why do you want to work for this company?”, “What are your strengths, and how can they contribute to the betterment of the company?”, “Why should we hire you?” and “Why did you apply for this position?”.

Conduct a Mock Job Interview

This is somehow connected to the aforementioned tip above. Knowing that you already have the list of possible questions, you can conduct a mock job interview right away. You can put the questions on a flashcard and randomize them, or you can ask someone to be your interviewer. Besides practicing your question-and-answer skills, you can also start to practice your posture and outfit for that day. Conducting a mock job interview can help your brain adapt to the situation so that you will not be too nervous during the real interview. During these mock job interviews, you can develop strategies and enhance your communication skills.

Prepare Everything the Night Before

When the final day to prepare arrives, ensure that you have already prepared your outfit, documents, food, water, hygienic necessities, and other essentials. On top of that, preparing yourself by meditating and proper nutrition must also be taken into consideration. You should also condition your mind that you are capable, and not being accepted into your dream company means you are meant for something bigger and better.
