How Long Will CBD Stay In Your System?

Many people in the world can benefit from taking CBD, but there is often the concern of how long it will affect how we function. If there’s THC in the product you’re using, the question of how long a CBD product will stay in your system is important. Even if you’re only taking CBD without THC, you may wonder how long its benefits and effects will be something you can expect.

CBD Duration

CBD stays in the body after consuming it in capsule, tincture, edible, etc. While there’s still a lot of research that needs to be done regarding the amount of time that CBD is in effect, we know that there are many factors that affect this concept.

Body Metabolism

Some people have fast metabolisms, while other people struggle with a slower metabolism. The body’s metabolism can also be affected by the type of food that was eaten at the time of consuming CBD. There is much food that increases the bioavailability of CBD in the body.

Frequency of Doses

If you’re taking your CBD gummies by Koi CBD or other favorite brand on a consistent basis, this will increase the amount of CBD that you have in your system at any given moment. Even with the best CBD capsules, the effects will be much shorter if you’re only taking one dose every few days.

Dosage Size

CBD’s dosage size will affect how long a CBD tincture or how long a CBD edible will last. Larger doses will stay in the body much longer. That’s why it’s recommended that you start with a small dose of CBD to see how it affects you before you change up your dosage size.

The Type of CBD Product Used

Certain CBD products will take effect faster than others. For example, vaping CBD will allow you to feel the results much quicker, but that means you’ll have it in your system for a shorter amount of time. CBD edibles last a bit longer in the body because they aren’t fully absorbed for a couple of hours after consumption.

Studies on CBD Duration

A study was published in 2018 by the National Institute of Health, which explained that CBD’s current estimated half-life in the body is anywhere between two and five days. This applies to a person who takes a moderate dose of CBD daily. Sporadic CBD use and different products resulted in different results. When taking CBD regularly, it may take up to two weeks for CBD to completely leave the body. Suppose you’re only taking CBD as needed. In that case, it can be undetectable in the blood as few as nine hours after ingestion, according to a 2005 study published in Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.

It’s important to note that while CBD’s effects may not be noticeable anymore, the compound itself may be detectable in the body. If you’re consuming a CBD product with THC in it, you’ll want to be extra careful. Many companies have the right to conduct random drug tests. THC is a product that would result in a failed drug test in many scenarios. If you’re more interested in CBD for its health benefits and plan to avoid THC altogether, you don’t necessarily have to worry about how long it’s going to remain in the body. Trace amounts aren’t going to typically affect how you feel or function a couple of days after you take a CBD tincture or CBD capsule.
