Self-awareness, or self-awareness of oneself? Its a very broad topic that goes beyond just looking into oneself. We can look at a room and see if there is a pattern to our furniture. We can look at a scene and tell if there are people or animals in it. We can actually see what our thoughts are like in a very abstract way. This is a broad topic.

Social awareness is something that is probably the most obvious one, but is also a fairly hard concept to define. We can actually learn a lot about others by observing how they act, think, and handle themselves.
One of the first things that I realized when I started studying social awareness was that I never considered the things I was observing as social. I was observing people’s behavior in the moment. If I was observing someone’s behavior in the moment, I was looking for patterns. I was looking for patterns because I understood that behavior is a consequence of thoughts and actions, and those thoughts and actions can have patterns.
This same principle applies to the way we think and behave as well. Thinking is an action, and acting is a pattern. We have a tendency to think about the other person, and then act in a way that brings them into our awareness.
