This is one of the most depressing aspects of driving in the airport. The very reason why we are here and why we are paying to be here is because of the congestion. It’s so frustrating to have to drive past all the cars that have their engines running and who are all staring at us, because at some point one of them will inevitably pull up right next to you. The only way to get through is by turning around and driving back to the terminal.
You have to be a bit of a masochist to love this airport. There is nothing quite like a flight to the airport, where no one could possibly stop you from getting to your destination. This, of course, leads to the question, “Why do we do it?” I guess we just like it. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical that this would turn out to be the best airport in the country.
Yes, there is something here that is similar to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. As you drive up to the airport, you will pass through multiple gates before you get to the one you want. It is not an easy drive, but if you follow the signs, you’ll eventually end up right next to the terminal. Just behind the terminal you will see the green taxi stand.
Most of the airports in the country are a bit smaller than the one at Chennai airport. I was surprised, however, to find that you can actually get to the terminal from the taxi stand. You can take a taxi to the airport from anywhere in the city, but I was pleased to see someone take the time to put together a map showing each gate, in order to help with your planning.
One of the main reasons why I wanted to get to the airport was because of the security that keeps the airport door open. If you want to get a safe, you can go to the airport yourself, but it’s not that safe. If you get on the bus, you can go to the airport and get on the bus.
I didn’t want to tell you how to get to the terminal, but I thought I’d share it anyway. It’s like a large airport, with three gates, but I think you’ll understand the importance of the security measures if you actually get to the airport. You can also take the metro to the airport, which is significantly more convenient.
