So much that makes me wonder about Halloween makeup and the meaning behind it. There have been so many great movies and TV shows based on the theme. But the real reason for me to have this post is because I am an avid Halloween lover. I think I have to do a better job of explaining the spooky theme of this post.
In a nutshell, spooky Halloween makeup can be a combination of black, white, red and pink. Black is to be used to mark out the area you are in; white is for the “spooky” colors and pink is for the “pretty” colors.
As a matter of fact, for most of the history of Halloween, red was reserved exclusively for witches. In fact, the first Halloween had only eight colors, black, yellow, green, purple, blue, red, white, and black. Now we have more than five hundred.
So, if you’re looking for makeup that’s easy to get used to, go for a black mascara, a purple lipstick and a purple mascara. And for that matter, any red. And for those who want a less scary theme, go for a black and white makeup.
The Halloween thing is usually fun, but we should all be careful what we wish for because the next Halloween won’t be that much better.
Halloween is a great time to break out your favorite costume and enjoy the party all to yourself. But be prepared for a couple of reasons. First, you might not want to dress up as Batman or Captain America. Second, you might be forced to wear a suit that doesn’t fit your body, and you might not want to be seen in a costume that’s too small or too big.
These are all good reasons, but the biggest reason to dress up as something you dont want to be is so other people can see you. We wear to get attention. The things that get us attention are usually the things that scare us, the things that terrify us. And the only way to get attention is to scare us.
Well, that’s the point of Halloween. To scare us. And to get us to go out and dress up as something we dont want to be.
But it doesn’t have to be frightening.
Halloween is a celebration of fear. Of fear of the unknown. Of fear that we cannot overcome. So many things that scare people, scare us. One of the things I love about Halloween is that it doesn’t have to be scary. In fact, it doesn’t have to be scary at all.
